You can then use this information to tailor your marketing plans to create relevant, engaging content.

Newsletters are a great source of information, and marketing newsletters in particular are perfect for keeping you up to date with the latest online trends. Not only do these newsletters fill you in on current trends, but they also discuss possibilities in the future and how these trends can help you grow your business. As well as marketing newsletters, you should also subscribe to newsletters relating to your industry such as retail, hospitality, leisure and so on. Staying up to date on TikTok doesn’t necessarily mean posting videos of you doing the latest dance trend. Instead, interact with creators in your industry to see what they are talking about. TikTok is one of the fastest growing social media platforms and is also becoming one of the best social commerce apps. People often use TikTok as a product buying guide, getting recommendations from their favourite TikTok influencers. There is even the popular hashtag #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt that you can search to find videos of people showing off products they have bought that they first saw on TikTok. By browsing videos with this hashtag, you get a peek into what consumers are saying, what there is demand for, and the best ways to market your own products.

Not all of your time has to be spent doing hard research to stay on top of the latest trends. Sometimes a conversation with your peers can be a great way of getting the latest information in your industry. To initiate these conversations, you can try:

  • Participating in a webinar
  • Attending a conference
  • Attending networking events
